DPCU represented at the farewell ceremony for New Apostolic ecumenist Peter Johanning

On 30 January 2026, a ceremony was held at the New Apostolic Church in Frankfurt-Nord (Germany) under the motto “Walking unknown paths …” in honour of Bishop Emeritus Peter Johanning, one of the New Apostolic Church’s ecumenical pioneers and the long-standing contact person for the Ecumenical Department of New Apostolic Church International (NAC).

On the occasion of Bishop Johanning’s retirement from his international and regional ecumenical duties, Fr Dr Augustinus Sander OSB, Official of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU) responsible for relations with the New Apostolic Church International, delivered a personal address. In his remarks, he referred to the ecumenical significance of the New Apostolic Catechism (2012) and to the regular exchanges between New Apostolic representatives and the DPCU.
