Representatives of the New Apostolic Church visit DPCU

On 21 May 2025, Peter Johanning, the contact person for the Ecumenical Department of the New Apostolic Church International (NAC), visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU) together with a delegation of leading NAC representatives from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.

The ecumenical significance of baptism and the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea were highlighted during an exchange with Father Dr Augustinus Sander OSB, DPCU staff member responsible for contacts with the NAC.

Following a lengthy process of theological clarification and the publication of a new catechism in 2012, the NAC has since deepened and expanded its ecumenical commitment. It is now represented in numerous ecumenical institutions and committees at local, regional and national level, either as a guest or full member.
