Protestant pilgrims from Central Germany visit DPCU
On 20 October 2025, a group of pilgrims from the Protestant Church in Central Germany (EKM) visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU). The group was led by Willi Wild, editor-in-chief of the church newspaper “Glaube+Heimat” (“Faith+Home”), and was accompanied by Bodo Ramelow, former Minister-President of Thuringia and current Vice-President of the German Bundestag.
For the occasion, Bishop Friedrich Kramer of the EKM sent an official written greeting to Father Dr Augustinus Sander OSB, German Official of the DPCU, who welcomed the group and presented the various activities of the Dicastery.
In a lively discussion, participants had the opportunity to relate their own ecumenical experiences at the local level to the diverse ecumenical engagements of the DPCU at the universal level.
The Evangelical Church in Central Germany (EKM), which has about 600,000 members, was founded on 1 January 2009, after the synods of the Evangelical Church of the Province of Saxony and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia decided in 2007 to unite their two regional churches.
