Conference in Vienna on Eastern Catholic Churches and Ecumenism
On 14 and 15 November, an international conference entitled ‘The Place of the Eastern Catholic Churches in the Communio Ecclesiarum and their Relationship with the Roman Catholic Church in the Perspective of Dialogue with Orthodoxy’ was held at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Vienna. The event was organised by the Institute of Ecumenical Studies at the Ukrainian Catholic University of Lviv (UKU).
This conference followed one held on the same theme at the Pontifical Oriental Institute on 14 and 15 November 2023, which was opened by Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity.
At the Vienna conference, which was attended by numerous Catholic and Orthodox experts, Fr Hyacinthe Destivelle, Official of the DPCU, presented a paper on the topic ‘The Bishop of Rome: Towards a Differentiated Exercise of the Ministry of Unity’.
