Conference in Rome on Eastern Catholic Churches and Ecumenism

On 15 and 16 November, an international conference entitled "Eastern Catholics' Ecumenical Vision in Dialogue with the Orthodox" was held at the Pontifical Oriental Institute, organized by the Institute of Ecumenical Studies of the Ukrainian Catholic University of Lviv (UKU).

Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, gave an inaugural message in which he recalled that the Eastern Catholic Churches "have a special responsibility in this ecumenical process of reconciliation", referring to the conciliar decree Orientalium Ecclesiarum, the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches and the Apostolic Constitution Pastores Gregis of Pope John Paul II.

Revd Fr Hyacinthe Destivelle, OP, Official of the DPCU, chaired the conference session dedicated to ecumenism, in which Professors Edward Farrugia (PIO), Iwan Dacko (UKU) and Dimitrios Keramidas (Angelicum) took part.
