28 Mar 2025

On 28 March 2025, stipend holders of the Hanns Seidel Foundation visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU) as part of their study trip to Rome on the topic of "Roma Christiana – the Eternal City as the Navel of Religion, Culture and Politics."

Father Dr Augustinus Sander OSB, a German member of the DPCU responsible for relations with the Lutherans, provided information on the history of the Dicastery's origins and its current tasks. In the discussion that followed, the methodology of ecumenical dialogue was of particular interest.

The Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSS) is named after the former Bavarian Minister-President and CSU Chairman Hanns Seidel. Established in 1967, HSS is a predominantly state-funded German political foundation headquartered in Munich, with offices in over 75 countries. HSS offers scholarships for outstanding talents, primarily at German universities.
