Marian Conference for Peace in Perugia and Assisi

30 Oct 2026

From 27 to 29 October 2026, the international conference “Mary, a Path of Dialogue and Peace for the Mediterranean” took place in Perugia and Assisi. The event was organised by the Pontifical International Marian Academy and the Oikos Centre for Integral Ecology of the Mediterranean.

The conference brought together representatives of the three Abrahamic religions, theologians, and representatives of Marian shrines from across the Mediterranean region, with the aim of highlighting the figure of Mary as a path towards dialogue, fraternity, and peace.

Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, sent a message of greeting to the participants. The event was also attended by the Reverend Jaromír Zadrapa, Official of the Dicastery.

The conference concluded on 29 October at the Porziuncola of Saint Mary of the Angels with the signing of a joint manifesto aimed at promoting a network of Marian shrines as places of welcome, encounter, and peace throughout the Mediterranean region.
