Ecumenical Seminar in Hungary
On Tuesday 29 September, Revd Fr Martin Browne OSB, Official of the Western Section, was the keynote speaker in the first in a series of ecumenical conversations at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest. The series is organised by the St John Paul II Research Group in the university’s Theology Faculty, in association with the Ut Unum Sint Ecumenical Research Group. In a lecture entitled, The Holy See and the Quest for Christian Unity in the time of Pope Leo XIV, he presented the history of the Dicastery and the many ecumenical conversations and dialogues that it co-sponsors. He also offered some reflections on the importance of unity in the thought of Pope Leo XIV.
While in Budapest, Fr Martin also visited the offices of the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Hungary, where he met with the General Secretary, Revd Dr Vilmos Fischl and colleagues, in preparation for the 2029 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
