Ecumenical representatives of the New Apostolic Church International visit DPCU
On 22 September 2026, Arne Herrmann, the new head of the Department for Ecumenical Relations of the New Apostolic Church International (NAC), visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU) together with a delegation of leading NAC representatives from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The conversation with Father Dr Augustinus Sander OSB, the DPCU staff member responsible for relations with the NAC, focused on current theological and ecumenical developments within the NAC, as well as liturgical issues relating to the celebration of Holy Communion and the commemoration of the dead.
Following a lengthy process of theological clarification and the publication of a new catechism in 2012, the NAC has since deepened and expanded its ecumenical commitment. It is now represented in numerous ecumenical institutions and committees at local, regional and national level. Most recently, the NAC became a full member of the Council of Christian Churches in Germany.
