Pope Leo XIV receives Patriarch Youhanna X

The Holy Father received in a private audience His Beatitude Patriarch Youhanna X, Greek-Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, on Monday, 14 September 2026.

Following the audience, the Patriarch and his delegation were received by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See. For this visit, the Primate of the Greek-Orthodox Church of Antioch was accompanied by a prominent delegation, including Metropolitan Ignatius (Alhoshi) of France, Western and Southern Europe, Metropolitan Antonios (el-Souri) of Zahle and Baalbak, Archimandrite Parthenios (Allati), Archimandrite Meletios (shattahi), Deacon Elarion Bechara, and Professor Michel Nseir.

This meeting took place within the framework of an official visit to the Vatican by Patriarch Youhanna X from 13 to 17 September. During his stay, the Patriarch also visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity to meet with Cardinal Kurt Koch, as well as the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches to meet with Cardinal Claudio Gugerotti.
