On Wednesday 26 August, the Holy Father received in private audience a delegation of eleven bishops from the Lutheran Church of Norway, led by the Most Reverend Olav Fykse Tveit, President of the Bishops’ Conference.

In his greetings, thanking the delegation for their visit, Pope Leo XIV, highlighted that “even small gestures can inspire and guide us along the path of reconciliation” and evoked the example of the early martyrs and saints, such as Saint Olaf and Saint Sunniva, “whose lives, dedicated to God and neighbor, helped to unite peoples and bear enduring witness to the transforming power of charity”.

The delegation then met Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, who had accompanied them during the audience.
