Catholicos Aram I at the General Audience

His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church, attended the General audience on Wednesday 20 May as part of his official visit to the Vatican from 17 to 21 May.

At the beginning of the audience, the Holy Father greeted His Holiness Aram I, expressing his gratitude for his ecumenical commitment, particularly in favour of theological dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches.

The Pope also invited all those present to pray that the Catholicos’ visit might represent a further step towards full unity, as well as for peace in Lebanon and the Middle East.

At the end of the audience, the Catholicos’ delegation performed a hymn in honour of Pope Leo XIV.
