Ecumenical Prayer on the Feast of the Ascension

On 14 May 2026 an ecumenical prayer was celebrated in the Lutheran Christ Church in Rome on the Feast of the Ascension. As every year, Dr Michael Jonas, the pastor of the Lutheran congregation, organised the liturgical celebration, which on this occasion featured musical performances by several choirs.

Rev. P. Yaroslaw Semehen, Rector of the Ukrainian Catholic Basilica of Saint Sophia, gave the sermon. Numerous representatives of various churches and ecclesial communities based in Rome took part in the prayers and jointly professed the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed.

Fr Dr Hyacinthe Destivelle OP and Fr Dr Augustinus Sander OSB participated representing the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU).
