Visit of President Dr Christian Schad

As part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the President of the “Evangelischer Bund” and former President of the “Evangelische Kirche der Pfalz”, Dr Christian Schad, visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU) on 23 January 2026. He was accompanied by the Revd Dr Martin Bräuer, former staff member of the “Konfessionskundliches Institut Bensheim”, and Dr Sigurd Rink, former Protestant Military Bishop.

In conversation with Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the DPCU, and Fr Dr Augustinus Sander OSB, German Official of DPCU, the discussion focused in particular on the ecumenical possibilities and limitations of the pan-Protestant “Leuenberg Agreement”, as well as on the forthcoming 500th anniversary of the Augsburg Confession in 2030.
