Archbishop Pace at the International Consultation between Judaism and Orthodox Christianity

From 7 to 9 December, the Vice-President of the Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews, H.E. Msgr. Flavio Pace, participated in Geneva as an observer in the 12th International Academic Consultation between Judaism and Orthodox Christianity, on the theme Sanctity of Place – Sanctity of Space.

The program included the commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the meetings between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Jewish world, which were initiated and carried forward by the then Metropolitan Damaskinos and later developed, and in recent years have taken place under the presidency of Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon.

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew attended the proceedings of the first day, delivering a speech. On the Orthodox side, in addition to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, representatives of numerous Orthodox Churches were present: Alexandria, Jerusalem, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia, Poland, the Czech Lands and Slovakia, and Albania. On the Jewish side, Rabbis and representatives of communities and associations from Israel, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Greece participated, coordinated by Rabbi Mark Dratch, Chair of the International Jewish Committee for Interreligious Consultations (IJCIC).
