DPCU represented at an Interdisciplinary Conference at Campo Santo Teutonico
As part of an interdisciplinary conference at Campo Santo Teutonico, a round-table discussion was held on 29 November 2025 on the topic of "Hülle und Fülle. The Textiles of Christ, the Popes and the Church". Father Dr Augustinus Sander OSB, German official of the Western Section of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU), emphasised in the conversation with Prof. Dr Barbara Vinken (München) and Prof. Dr Birgitt Borkopp-Restle (Bern) the ecumenical dimension of paraments as a shaping of faith. In particular, within the dialogue between Catholics and Lutherans, the common liturgical heritage is a bridge to deeper unity and an expression of doxological ecumenism.
The conference "Popes and Paraments from Julius II to Benedict XVI – Textiles, Texts and Contexts from Six Centuries" at Campo Santo Teutonico was organised by Prof. Dr Dr Jörg Bölling (University of Hildesheim) in collaboration with Mgr Prof. Dr Stefan Heid, Director of the Roman Institute of the Görres Society. The round-table was moderated by Dr Benjamin Leven, editor-in-chief of the online theological journal "Communio".
