An Hungarian Delegation visits the DPCU

As part of a pilgrimage to Rome led by Archabbot Cirill T. Hortobágyi OSB, a Hungarian delegation including official representatives from the Catholic Church, Ecumenism and Culture visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU) on 9 December 2025.

Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the DPCU, gave an overview of the history and current tasks of the Dicastery. Fr. Dr. Augustinus Sander OSB, DPCU staff member responsible for the relations with the Lutherans, provided relevant information about the main activities planned for the 500th anniversary of the Confessio Augustana in 2030.

  • Prof. Dr. Károly Fekete, Bishop of the Transtibiscan Church District of the Reformed Church in Hungary,
  • Deacon István Kuzmányi, Chief Editor of the Hungarian Catholic News Agency ‘Magyar Kurir’,
  • Mr. Balázs Bús, Vice President of National Cultural Found of Hungary,
  • Fr. Dr. Konrad Dejcsics OSB., Director of Cultural Affairs of Pannonhalma Archabbey,
  • Fr. Henrik Ontko OSB, Monk of Pannonhalma Archabbey.

 

The Hungarian Benedictine Archabbey of Pannonhalma is committed to ecumenical and cultural apostolate. Since 2021, it has been organising annual international ecumenical conferences with distinguished speakers. In June 2026, it will host the Coordinating Committee of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church.
