Chairwoman of the German National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation visits DPCU

On 29 September 2025, the Chairwoman of the German National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation (GNC-LWF), Bishop Kristina Kühnbaum-Schmidt, accompanied by Oberkirchenrat Dr Andreas Ohlemacher, consultant for ecumenical-theological affairs, visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU).

In conversation with Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the DPCU, and Father Dr Augustinus Sander OSB, the official responsible for relations with Lutherans, the ecumenical significance of the Augsburg Confession was discussed in particular with regard to the upcoming 500th anniversary of the Confessio Augustana in 2030.

The GNC-LWF represents the global Lutheran communion in Germany, coordinates the contributions of the 11 German member churches to the LWF, and supports the LWF in its theological, missionary and diaconal work.
