Coordinating Committee of the International Catholic-Orthodox Dialogue
From 8 to 12 September, the Coordinating Committee of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church met at the Holy Metropolis of Rethymno and Avlopotamos in Crete, co-chaired by Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, and Metropolitan Job of Pisidia of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
According to the communiqué, after considering two draft texts on the historical and theological issues related to the Filioque and Infallibility respectively, the Coordinating Committee decided to address the draft text on Infallibility first. Progress was made in studying and revising the draft text, and a new drafting committee has been set up to carry out these revisions. Once completed, the revised draft will be discussed by the Coordinating Committee next year, in the hope that it will be ready for consideration at a Plenary Meeting of the Commission.
