Ecumenical Week in Stockholm

25 Aug 2025

From 18 to 24 August, Ecumenical Week took place in Stockholm, organised by the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Sweden to commemorate the centenary of the Stockholm Conference, convened by the then Lutheran Archbishop of Uppsala, Nathan Söderblom, on the occasion of the 1,600th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea. The Conference led to the establishment of the Universal Christian Conference on Life and Work.

The theme for the 2025 event was Time for God's Peace, inviting participants to reflect on the contribution Christians can make to the promotion of peace and reconciliation in contemporary society.

The week's programme featured ecumenical celebrations, conferences and seminars, attended by numerous representatives of Churches and Christian communions from around the world.

The Dicastery was represented by its Secretary, His Excellency Archbishop Flavio Pace, who read the message of the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV.
