DPCU attends ICCJ's annual meeting

2 Jul 2025

From 29 June to 2 July, the ICCJ's annual meeting took place in Warsaw. Delegates from five continents participated, each having the opportunity to present the initiatives in favour of Jewish–Christian dialogue carried out in their territory during the plenary session.

Various workshops explored the history and presence of the Jewish community in Poland over the centuries, during the Nazi period, and after the Shoah. They also examined the Christian presence in Poland according to its different denominations (Latin Catholic, Greek Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant), the situation of interreligious dialogue in Palestine and Israel, and some exercises in "Scriptural Reasoning", which is an approach to sacred texts from different faiths that fosters listening and sharing. A ceremony was held to commemorate the Jews deported from the Warsaw ghetto by the Nazi regime. The event also included a visit to the Polin Museum (Museum of the History of Polish Jews), the ghetto and the city's Jewish cemeteries. Finally, participants were welcomed to churches of various denominations in Warsaw.

His Excellency Flavio Pace, Vice-President of the Commission for Religious Relations with Judaism, participated in the entire meeting.
