On 2 and 3 April 2025, Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU), and Father Dr Augustinus Sander OSB, German staff member of the DPCU, took part in the annual meeting of the Academic Advisory Board of the Johann Adam Möhler Institute for Ecumenics in Paderborn, Germany.

The theme of this year’s meeting was "Ecumenical Perspectives on the Papacy". Cardinal Kurt Koch gave an introduction to the study document “The Bishop of Rome”, published by the DPCU. This was followed by further theological contributions on the question of primacy from a Lutheran, Anglican, and Orthodox point of view.

In his “Ecumenical Report from Rome”, Fr Augustinus Sander OSB focused in particular on new methodological challenges in bi- and multilateral dialogue formats.
