Lutheran Youth Choir of Rostock at the Vatican

On 5 February, the youth choir of the St. Johannis-Kantorei (comprising 60 members), under the direction of KMD Prof. Dr. h.c. Markus Johannes Langer, and accompanied by Mgr Juan Usma, Head of the Western Section of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, participated in the General Audience and performed before the Holy Father.

The St. Johannis-Kantorei is a renowned Lutheran institution in Germany. It is one of the largest choirs in the country, with a total of 400 singers, including both adults and young people. The choir regularly performs twice a month during services and concerts in Rostock.

During their stay in Rome, they will give a concert at the Church of Santa Maria dell'Anima on 7 February and sing at the liturgy at Rome’s Lutheran parish, the Christuskirche, on Sunday, 9 February.
