Visit of Anglican Ecumenism Study Group

24 Jan 2025

Between 15 and 25 January 2025, a course entitled Christian Unity in Rome: Anglican Ecclesiology and Ecumenism took place in Rome. The course was organised by Nashotah House Theological Seminary and the Living Church Foundation in the United States of America, in partnership with the Anglican Communion Office, London.

During their stay in Rome, thirty students, mainly priests and seminarians from various Anglican churches, participated in academic seminars on the history and development of Anglican ecclesiology and ecumenical theology. The course also included several visits and pilgrimages, including participation in the General Audience of the Holy Father on Wednesday 22 January.

The course programme on Thursday 23 January took place at the office of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity. The seminar focused on Anglican-Catholic relations, and in particular the documents of ARCIC and IARCCUM. Revd Fr Martin Browne OSB, the official responsible for relations with the Anglican Communion, received the group and participated in the seminar.
