In Memoriam Revd Ronald G. Roberson, CSP

The Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity has learned with sadness of the death in New York on 19 January 2025 of Fr Ron Roberson. Aged 74, Fr Roberson was a religious of the Paulist Fathers for 52 years and a priest for 47. He served as an official of the Eastern Section of the then Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity from 1988 to 1992.

Following his return to the United States, he served as associate director of the Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for 28 years, retiring in August 2023. Since 2005, he had been a member of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue Between the Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches. Fr Roberson was the author of The Eastern Christian Churches: A Brief Survey, which ran to seven editions between 1986 and 2008.
