Students from Centro Melantone visit DPCU

10 Apr 2025

On 8 April 2025, a group of German students from Centro Melantone in Rome, accompanied by their Director of Studies, the Reverend Patrick Spitzenberger, visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU).

Father Dr Augustinus Sander OSB, staff member responsible for relations with the Lutherans, offered an overview of the Dicastery’s history, the themes of Catholic–Lutheran dialogue, and some of the methodological challenges involved.

Centro Melantone is an ecumenical study centre founded in 2002 by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Italy (ELCI) and the Waldensian Faculty of Theology. Inspired by the vision of the Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe (CPCE), the Centre provides a platform for Protestant theologians from across Europe who wish to explore the Christian character of the city of Rome in its many dimensions.
