DPCU represented at the 25th anniversary of the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification (JDDJ), an ecumenical symposium was held on 30th and 31st October 2024 in Augsburg (Germany). The event was organised by the Johann Adam Möhler Institute for Ecumenism in Paderborn, in cooperation with the Diocese of Augsburg, and focused on the understanding of the sacraments and the significance of the ministry in relation to the JDDJ.
As part of the symposium, an ecumenical Vespers with a remembrance of baptism was celebrated on 30th October at St. Anne’s Lutheran Church, the very place where, 25 years ago, the Official Common Statement was signed by representatives of the Lutheran World Federation and the Catholic Church.
Fr. Dr. Augustinus Sander OSB, responsible for relations with the Lutherans, represented the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU) in both events.
