Cardinal Kurt Koch receives doctorate honoris causa from John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin

On 16 October an honorary doctorate was conferred on Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, by the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, Poland. The degree was conferred by the Rector of the University, Reverend Professor Dr Mirosław Kalinowski. Cardinal Koch delivered a speech during the ceremony on “The Responsibility of Theology for Ecumenism”.

The conferral of the degree took place during the Congress of Christian Culture held from 15–18 October on the theme “Spaces for Dialogue. Christian Inspirations of the Culture of Encounter”. Cardinal Koch delivered a lecture on “Christian Inspiration for a Culture of Dialogue and Encounter” and presented the introduction to the ecumenical panel. Cardinal Koch also celebrated the Holy Mass for the start of the academic year, during which he delivered a homily.
