Acta Œcumenica 2023
Acta Œcumenica (no. 5/2023) is available online on this website and in hard copy from the Libreria editrice vaticana (LEV).
This issue reports on the Holy See's ecumenical initiatives during 2023, including the numerous ecumenical delegations present at the funeral of Pope Benedict XVI, Pope Francis' audiences with representatives of other Churches and ecclesial Communities, and the “Ecumenical Peace Pilgrimage” to South Sudan with the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Moderator of the Church of Scotland.
Among the various activities of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU), we would highlight the ecumenical dimension of the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, in particular the event ‘TOGETHER - Ecumenical Prayer Vigil’ proposed by the Taizé Community, with the participation of numerous leaders from many Christian Communities. The volume includes updates on ongoing ecumenical dialogues, as well as the Cardinal Prefect's various contributions on ecumenical issues and Jewish-Christian relations. The penultimate part of Acta Œcumenica is devoted to the recent document on dialogue with the Orthodox Church, ‘Synodality and Primacy in the Second Millennium and Today’.
Acta Œcumenica, the journal of the DPCU, was launched in 2020 as a continuation of the Information Service bulletin published by the Dicastery since 1967, whose archives can be consulted in full online.
The journal is an annual collection of documents relating to the Holy See's commitment to Christian unity: ecumenical interventions and statements by the Holy Father, information on the various activities of the Dicastery (documents from the various international dialogues, texts from the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, activities of the Cardinal Prefect, etc.) and the Commission for Religious Relations with Judaism.
The printed version of the magazine is available by annual subscription (€ 38.00). Distribution is handled by Libreria Editrice Vaticana (LEV). E-mail: riviste.lev@spc.va.
