Leading Director of the Johann Adam Möhler Institute visits DPCU

On 5 December, Prof Dr Christian Stoll, the new (interim) Leading Director of the Johann Adam Möhler Institute for Ecumenism (JAMI) in Paderborn, made his official inaugural visit to the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU).

A conversation was held with Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the DPCU, and Father Dr Augustinus Sander, OSB, Official of the DPCU and previously a research fellow at JAMI for many years. They discussed the current challenges of international and regional ecumenical dialogue, as well as further opportunities for cooperation between the DPCU and JAMI. Meetings with other DPCU officials followed.

In 2022, Prof Stoll accepted the appointment to the Chair of Dogmatics and History of Dogma at the Faculty of Catholic Theology in Paderborn, which was advertised together with the position of the Leading Director of the Johann Adam Möhler Institute. Prof Stoll was appointed interim Leading Director on 1 April 2023, pending confirmation by a new archbishop. He succeeds Prof Dr Wolfgang Thönissen in this position.
