International Christian Network deepens contact with DPCU

8 Nov 2023

On 7 November, the Board of the International Christian Network (ICN) - known in German-speaking countries as the "Internationale Konferenz Bekennender Gemeinschaften (IKGB) - visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU).

In conversation with Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the DPCU, and Father Dr Augustinus Sander, OSB, German staff member of the DPCU, the Trinitarian-Christocentric foundations of the ICN were discussed. In the light of the current challenges in Church and society, a common witness to Christ takes on particular relevance. In preparation for the 1700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed in 2025, an ICN Congress will take place next year in Hofgeismar (Germany), with the participation of Cardinal Koch.

The ICN is a worldwide association of Christians of different confessional affiliations who see themselves as "confessing" Christians. They take the Bible, with both the Old and New Testaments, as the normative foundation for faith and morals, and profess their belief in the Triune God with the Apostolic and the Nicene Creeds. In 2016 the ICN adopted the widely acclaimed "Salzburg Declaration. Current threats to human creatureliness and their overcoming: Life according to the Creator's will."

The ICN Board consists of Rev. Ulrich Rüß (President), Andreas Späth (Vice President), Jürgen Schlicksupp (Treasurer), Rev. Gaston Nogrady (Secretary). Rev. Dr Werner Neuer is Chairman of the Theological Commission.
