From 6 to 12 July 2022 the 38th International and Interconfessional Meeting of Consecrated Men and Women was held in St. Niklausen, Switzerland, on the theme "Consecrated Life at the Service of Christian Unity. 50 years of E.I.I.R. witness".
This jubilee meeting celebrated the 50th anniversary of the foundation by Metropolitan Emilianos Timiadis and Don Julian Garcia Hernando of E.I.I.R. ("Encuentro International e Interconfesional de Religiosas y de Religiosos"), which brings together religious men and women from various Christian traditions every two years.
On this occasion, Cardinal Kurt Koch addressed a message to Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium, President of the E.I.I.R. Association, in which he underlined the importance of consecrated life for the Ecumenical Movement and the significant contribution of the E.I.I.R. to reflection on this theme.
Revd Father Hyacinthe Destivelle, op, representing the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, read the message of the Cardinal-Prefect and delivered a conference on the theme "The synodality of consecrated life at the service of Christian unity".
Other speakers included Archbishop Job of Telmessos, Sister Anne-Emmanuelle de Grandchamp, Mother Gabriela de Voronets, Dom Michel Van Parys, osb, and Pastor Jean-Philippe Calame.
