On Sunday 24 April 2022 a commemoration was held at the Armenian Pontifical College to mark the 107th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.
After the Divine Liturgy in the Armenian Rite officiated by the Rector of the College, Very Revd Father Nareg Lwis Naamo, in the Church of San Nicola da Tolentino, Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches, presided over a commemorative event held at the “Khachkar”, the cross sculpted in stone in the courtyard of the College. At the end of the celebration, addresses were given by the Ambassadors of Armenia to the Holy See and to Italy.
Concelebrants also included His Excellency Rafic El Warcha, Procurator to the Holy See of the Patriarchate of Antioch of the Maronites, and His Excellency Flaviano Rami Al-Kabalan, Procurator to the Holy See of the Patriarchate of the Syrians, together with other priests.
Reverend Father Hyacinthe Destivelle, OP, Official of the Eastern Section responsible for relations with the Oriental Orthodox Churches, represented the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
