Resumption of the International Catholic - Pentecostal International Dialogue
A virtual meeting was held on 23 September to mark the resumption of the work of the seventh phase of the International Catholic - Pentecostal Dialogue on the overall theme of “Lex orandi lex credendi”.
The meeting was chaired on the Catholic side by Bishop Joseph Bambera (Diocese of Scranton, USA) and on the Pentecostal side by Reverend Cecil M. Robeck (Fuller Theological Seminary, USA) together with Reverend David Wells (Moderator of the Commission for Christian Unity of the World Pentecostal Conference and Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Canada). The co-secretaries were Reverend David Cole (Christian Unity Commission, Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North America) and Monsignor Juan Usma (Colombia/PCPCU).
The meeting was an opportunity to listen to and to share the different experiences of the sixteen participants from five continents. The next meeting has been scheduled in Rome in the summer of 2022. The Dialogue, which has not yet sought structural unity but has aimed at exploring, on the basis of existing unity, the life and spiritual experience of Christians and the traditions represented, gives special attention to the fullness of life in the Holy Spirit.
The other Catholic participants were Professor Mary Healy (USA); Revd Lawrence Iwuamadi (Nigeria/Switzerland); Sister Maria Ko, FMA (China/Rome); Revd Marcial Maçaneiro (Brazil); and Professor Teresa Rossi (Italy). The other Pentecostal participants were: Revd Marcia Clark (Church of God of Cleveland, USA); Professor Dale M. Coulter (Pentecostal Theological Seminary, TN, USA); Revd Jacqueline Gray (Australian Christian Church, Australia); Revd Pedro López Castillo (Assemblies of God, Peru); Revd S. David Moore (International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, USA); and Revd Opoku Onyinah (Church of Pentecost, Ghana).
