German Lutherans visit the PCPCU
As part of their annual consultation, a joint delegation of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Germany (VELKD) and the German National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation (DNK-LWB) came to the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity (PCPCU) for a meeting on 24 June 2021.
Members of the delegation included Bishop Dr. h. c. Frank Otfried July (President of DNK/LWB, Stuttgart), Bishop Ralf Meister (Presiding Bishop of VELKD, Hanover) and Bishop Dr. Karl-Hinrich Manzke (VELKD, relations with Catholic Church, Bückeburg), accompanied by staff members of DNK-LWB and VELKD.
The discussion with the President of the PCPCU, Cardinal Kurt Koch, and the staff member responsible for the dialogue with Lutherans, Reverend Father Augustinus Sander, OSB, dealt with the multifaceted ecumenical situation in Germany and the sometimes challenging translation and reception processes in the worldwide ecumenical dialogue.
