Visit by Church of England Ordinands

On Wednesday 17 May 2023, a group from St Mellitus College visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity. The group included 14 ordinands (seminarians) and three staff from the college, which trains men and women for ordained and lay ministry in the Church of England.

Having participated in Pope Francis’s General Audience earlier that morning, the group was welcomed to the Dicastery by Fr Martin Browne OSB, official with responsibility for Anglican Communion affairs. Following an introduction to the work of the Dicastery and the various ecumenical dialogues in which the Catholic Church participates, a wide-ranging discussion took place regarding Catholic-Anglican relations, touching on many contemporary issues of concern. The meeting concluded with a brief moment of prayer together.
