In memoriam Bishop Paul-Werner Scheele

The Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity has learned with sadness of the death on 10 May of Bishop Paul-Werner Scheele, Emeritus Bishop of Würzburg (Germany). Bishop Scheele was a member of the Pontifical Council from 1984 to 2008. He was also a member of the dialogue commission with the Lutheran World Federation, the International Conference of Old Catholics, and the Oriental Orthodox Churches.

Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Dicastery, addressed a letter of condolence to the current Bishop of Würzburg, Most Reverend Franz Jung.
