In memoriam Bishop Robert Christian, OP

The Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity has learned with great sadness of the unexpected death on 11 July of Bishop Robert F. Christian, OP, Auxiliary Bishop of San Francisco. A longstanding and valued member of the Anglican–Roman Catholic International Commission since 2011, Bishop Robert also served as a Consultor of the Pontifical Council since 2012. The Pontifical Council expresses its profound recognition of Bishop Robert’s esteemed theological insight and engaging sense of ecumenical friendship, in the trust that these gifts will remain as an inspiring witness to all those who seek the unity of Christ’s disciples.
