Executive Meeting of the Joint Working Group between WCC and Catholic Church

10 May 2019

The Executive Committee of the Joint Working Group (JWG) between the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Catholic Church met in Warsaw from 6–8 May and released a communiqué. Bishop Brian Farrell, Monsignor Juan Usma and Reverend Andrzej Choromanski attended on behalf of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.

The JWG was established in 1965, and since then it has met regularly to discuss matters of common interest and to promote cooperation between the Catholic Church and the Churches and Ecclesial Communities gathered in the WCC. Plenary meetings are held annually; an executive group meets twice in between. To date the JWG has issued nine reports proposing new programmes and tangible steps in response to shared issues and challenges.
