6 Jun 2019

Thessaloniki 1

An international conference on the theme “The Timeliness of Patristic Studies in the Modern World”, organized by the “Aristotle” University of Thessaloniki together with the “Apostle Paul” Institute of Orthodox Theological Studies of Brussels, under the auspices of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, was held in Thessaloniki on 29–30 May 2019. Representing the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Monsignor Andrea Palmieri, Under–Secretary, read a message from Cardinal Kurt Koch, President. In conveying his greetings, Cardinal Koch reflected on the enduring relevance of the Church Fathers in the development of an authentic spirit of dialogue and exchange, through which Christians of the diverse Churches that once considered themselves to be adversaries may be able to perceive each other and to interact with one another in a new way.
