In Memoriam Pastor Paolo Ricca

The Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity has learned of the death of Pastor Paolo Ricca, of the Waldensian Evangelical Church, on 14 August.

Born in 1936 in Torre Pellice, Italy, Pastor Ricca was an important figure in ecumenism in Italy. A well-known professor at the Waldensian Faculty of Theology in Rome, he was also president of the Italian Bible Society (Società Biblica in Italia) and for forty years directed the Luther ‘Selected Works’ series. Also committed to the international level, he was a member of the Faith and Constitution Commission.

Pastor Ricca attended the Second Vatican Council as an accredited journalist.
