Representatives of the New Apostolic Church visit DPCU

On 24 April, Peter Johanning, the contact person of the Department for Ecumenism of the New Apostolic Church (NAC), visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU) together with a delegation of leading ministers of the NAC from Germany and Austria.

In a lively exchange with Father Dr Augustinus Sander OSB, DPCU staff member responsible for contacts with the NAC, they discussed ecumenical challenges at regional and universal level  and questions of ecumenical formation.

After a lengthy process of theological clarification and the publication of a new catechism in 2012, the New Apostolic Church has since deepened and broadened its ecumenical commitment. In July 2021, the New Apostolic Church Switzerland joined the "Riva San Vitale Declaration" on the mutual recognition of baptism.
