Greeting from Cardinal Koch for a meeting of Lutheran and Catholic bishops in Uppsala

On 26 February 2024, a joint meeting between the Nordic Lutheran Primates and the Nordic Bishops' Conference of the Catholic Church took place in Uppsala. The Lutheran Archbishop of Uppsala and Primate of Sweden, Dr Martin Modéus, hosted the gathering, which focused on a deeper understanding of synodality.

On this occasion, Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU), sent a greeting to Archbishop Modéus and the Catholic Bishop of Stockholm, Cardinal Anders Arborelius. He highlighted the joint prayer to commemorate the Lutheran Reformation with Pope Francis in Lund Cathedral in 2016 as "a particulary inspiring example of successful ecumenical cooperation".
