Change of Secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity

H.E. Bishop Brian Farrell, after 21 years of dedicated service as Secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, has concluded his mandate. On this occasion, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, on behalf of the Holy Father, and the Revd Pr Jerry Pillay, General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, expressed their deep gratitude to the Secretary Emeritus for the work he has carried out over many years.

On 23 February, Pope Francis appointed as new Secretary Reverend Flavio Pace, until now Undersecretary of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, assigning him the titular See of Dolia and conferring on him the personal title of Archbishop.

The Dicastery expresses its heartfelt thanks to Msgr. Farrell and extends a warm welcome to Msgr. Pace, wishing him every success in his ministry in service of the most holy cause of Christian unity, "so that the world may believe" (Jn 17:21).
