Cardinal Kurt Koch meets His Beatitude Stefan at Santa Marta

On 26 February, Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, met with His Beatitude Stefan, head of the Orthodox Church - Archdiocese of Ohrid, at the Casa Santa Marta, where they discussed current relations and future cooperation between the Churches.

Afterwards, the delegation went to St.Peter's Basilica, where they were welcomed by H.E. Archbishop Calogero La Piana, Capitular Vicar of the Cardinal Archpriest of the Basilica, to venerate the relics of the Apostle Peter and visit the Basilica.

This was His Beatitude Stefan's first official visit as primate of the Orthodox Church - Archdiocese of Ohrid, now recognised as autocephalous by many Orthodox Churches.
