The Holy Father receives His Holiness Bartholomew I

Pope Francis met with His Holiness Bartholomew I, Ecumenical Patriarch, in the Apostolic Palace on September 30, 2023.

The Patriarch was accompanied by His Eminence Polycarp, Metropolitan of Italy, Very Rev. Grand Ecclesiarch Aetios, Director of the Private Patriarchal Office, and Archon Stilianos Efstratiadis.

His Holiness Bartholomew had come to the Vatican at the invitation of the Holy Father on the occasion of the ecumenical prayer vigil "Together" . His Holiness, together with his Delegation, also attended the Consistory on the same day.

On Sunday October 1, Patriarch Bartholomew concluded his visit to Rome by celebrating the Divine Liturgy in the church of San Teodoro al Palatino.
