As part of the traditional exchange of delegations for the feasts of their Patron Saints, on June 29 in Rome for the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, and on November 30 in Istanbul for the feast of St. Andrew, Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, led the Holy See’s Delegation for the feast of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

Cardinal Koch was accompanied by Bishop Brian Farrell, Secretary of the Dicastery, and Msgr. Andrea Palmieri, Undersecretary. The Apostolic Nuncio to Turkey, Archbishop Marek Solczyński, and the Secretary of the Nunciature, Reverend Arnaud du Cheyron de Beaumont, joined the delegation in Istanbul.

The delegation of the Holy See participated in the solemn Divine Liturgy presided over by the Ecumenical Patriarch, His All Holiness Bartholomew, in the Patriarchal Church of St. George al Phanar and had a meeting with the Patriarch and conversations with the Synodal Commission in charge of relations with the Catholic Church.

Cardinal Koch presented the Ecumenical Patriarch with an autographed message from the Holy Father, which he read publicly at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy.
