The DPCU at the CHARIS International Conference

From 2 – 4 November 2023, Msgr. Juan Usma Gómez participated in the International Conference of Charismatic Leaders organized in Rome by CHARIS (Catholic Charismatic Renewal International Service) under the theme "Called, Transformed, and Sent." Several workshops were held on the triple mission of CHARIS namely: baptism in the Spirit, Christian unity, and service to the poor. The workshop on Christian unity "that all may be one" (Jn. 17:21), was held at the Basilica of St. Andrew of the Valley, Nov. 2, with the coordination of Bishop Peter Smith of the Diocese of Portland, OR (USA) and Pentecostal Pastor Joe Tosini of the John 17 Movement. The event included testimonies by Evangelical leader Olivier Fleury (Jesus Celebration 2033), Prof. Matteo Calisi (Italy) and Reformed Pastor Martin Hoegger (Switzerland). Msgr. Usma Gomez presented a reflection on "The Mission of the DPUC and an Ecumenism According to the Spirit."

Pope Francis, at the conclusion of the international conference, granted an audience in the Paulo VI Hall to the thousands of participants from all over the world, after a conference by Cardinal Raniero Cantalamessa, OFM Cap, ecclesiastical assistant of CHARIS.
