Visit of the Deans of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany

On 22 September, the deans of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU) as part of a study tour led by Regional Bishop Dr Johann Schneider (District Magdeburg). Reverend Father Dr Augustinus Sander, OSB, who is the staff member responsible for the relations with the Lutherans, gave an introduction to the tasks of the DPCU and the current challenges of Lutheran- Catholic dialogue, in particular the distinction between the local and worldwide levels of ecumenical work.

The Evangelical Church in Central Germany is the result of a merger on 1 January 2009 between the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia and the Evangelical (United Protestant) Church of the Church Province of Saxony.
