Visit of a delegation of the Middle East Council of Churches

On 8 March, a delegation of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) composed of Dr. Michel Abs, Secretary General, and Bishop Munib Younan, President Emeritus of the Lutheran World Federation and of the MECC, visited the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity.

Dr. Abs and Bishop Younan, received by Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect, as well as by Bishop Brian Farrell, Secretary, and Rev. Father Hyacinthe Destivelle, Official of the Eastern section, presented the current activities and projects of the MECC, including the preparation of its 50th anniversary in 2024.

In 2022, Cardinal Koch sent a message to the 12th General Assembly of the MECC, held from 16 to 20 May 2022 in Wadi El Natrun, Egypt, on the theme of the Assembly “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid” (Matthew 14:27).
